ACE CPAs provides accrual-based GAAP accounting, monthly close, and financial reporting services to US-based businesses. Our work goes beyond basic bookkeeping and includes structured balance sheet reconciliations, GAAP-level adjustments, reporting-ready financials, and occasional technical accounting work such as acquisition-related accounting.


 

We are hiring an Accounting Quality Controller to function as an internal audit-style reviewer for client accounting files. This role is responsible for ensuring that all workpapers, reconciliations, and financial reporting outputs meet ACE CPAs quality standards before final submission to clients.

Role Summary


 

The Accounting Quality Controller will review client books and monthly close deliverables prepared by the team to ensure accuracy, completeness, proper support, and strong compliance with accrual-based GAAP standards. The person in this role must have an audit mindset, strong financial reporting knowledge, and advanced Excel skills to review complex reconciliation workbooks efficiently.


 

Key Responsibilities

  • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliation files and ensure all accounts are properly supported and tie to the Trial Balance / General Ledger.
  • Evaluate the completeness and accuracy of supporting schedules (cash and bank reconciliations, AR/AP tie-outs, accruals, prepaids, payroll liabilities, fixed assets, loans, equity).
  • Review GAAP-level adjustments including accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and cleanup entries.
  • Identify misstatements, classification errors, inconsistencies, missing documentation, and unusual fluctuations.
  • Provide clear, structured review notes and communicate corrections back to preparers.
  • Ensure consistency in formatting, presentation, and documentation standards across all client files.
  • Maintain QC checklists, track recurring issues, and recommend process improvements to management.
  • Support continuous improvement of templates and internal controls.


 

Required Qualifications

  • ACCA, CA, CMA qualified or at least finalist in one of these qualifications.
  • Strong experience in audit, assurance, or financial reporting roles.
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting, financial statements, and corporate reporting concepts.
  • Advanced Excel skills (must be highly proficient with pivot tables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, multi-tab workbooks, reconciliation structures).
  • Excellent written and spoken English; must be able to produce professional review notes and communicate clearly with internal teams and clients when needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to review work quickly but thoroughly.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Online, with strong working knowledge and hands-on experience in advanced usage and troubleshooting.
