Vacancy: Bodyguard Coordinator – U.S. Consulate General Karachi
Duties
Basic Function of the Position – Working in the Regional Security Office (RSO), the Bodyguard Coordinator for the Protective Security Unit of a contractor-provided (or host government) protective team oversees the execution of protective security (i.e., Bodyguard) operations for the U.S. Ambassador/Chief of Mission, Consul General, and other designated or visiting U.S. government officials as assigned. Serves within any capacity of the Bodyguard Unit, providing close protection and site advance services to the Consul General Karachi in order to protect him/her from harm.
Job Knowledge
The incumbent should have knowledge of defensive measures to be used in the event of a terrorist attack, such as that learned in the military or law enforcement training. Should have detailed knowledge of medical, fire, hostile attack, defensive and emergency driving procedures. Must be familiar with Pakistan police services, military, security and other government offices to ensure effective liaison and to facilitate effective protective operations including advance and motorcade operations.
Skills and Abilities
The incumbent should demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness in accomplishing tasks, along with the ability to effectively engage with people from diverse cultural backgrounds to obtain cooperation and achieve common goals. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are essential. The role requires proficiency in computer use, flexibility to work variable shifts, and availability for a 24-hour on-call schedule. The incumbent must be able to travel outside Karachi as needed and be qualified in administering emergency first aid, including AES/CPR. Alertness, quick reflexes, active thinking, excellent observational skills, adaptability, decisive action-taking, and the ability to remain calm in dangerous situations are critical. Effective oral and written communication skills, teamwork capability, firearm proficiency, and the physical fitness to endure frequent travel and long hours in a stressful environment while maintaining these standards are also required. A Pakistani valid driver's license for Motor Car/Jeep is required. Applicants must show proof that they have a minimum of five years of licensed driving experience. Skills and abilities may be tested.
Education Requirements
Completion of higher secondary school (12 years of education) is required.
Experience
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in the private sector, government, police, or military in one or more of the following categories: bodyguard, armed escort, law enforcement officer, combat arms or infantry soldier is required. Must include up to six months of supervisory experience in the aforementioned categories.
