We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in invoicing, bank reconciliation, payroll, and financial reporting, with specific expertise in Canadian accounting practices, preferably within Ontario. Candidates with experience in U.S. accounting and tax compliance will also be considered. Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop is essential for this role, as it is critical to managing day-to-day financial operations accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and issue client invoices, record payments, and maintain accurate accounts receivable and payable records. Process and reconcile bank and credit card statements promptly to ensure financial accuracy. Categorize income and expense transactions to generate monthly Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets. Manage dividend calculations, allocate expenses, and handle payroll entries with precision. Ensure compliance with Canadian provincial and federal tax regulations, including HST, WSIB, and CRA filing requirements. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities to support smooth financial operations. Support audits, data reviews, and financial reporting as needed. Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to resolve billing or reconciliation issues and provide timely updates on financial matters.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of three years of professional accounting or bookkeeping experience is required. Candidates must have a solid understanding of Canadian tax systems, with a preference for knowledge specific to Ontario. Expertise in QuickBooks Desktop is mandatory; experience with QuickBooks Online alone will not suffice. Proven hands-on experience in invoicing, payroll processing, and bank reconciliation is essential. Strong knowledge of HST filing, WSIB calculations, CRA submissions, and financial reporting requirements is necessary. The candidate must demonstrate exceptional accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills. The ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously and meet strict deadlines is critical. Excellent communication skills are required for effective client coordination and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Candidates with experience in U.S. accounting and tax compliance will be given additional consideration. This full-time position offers a competitive starting salary of Rs150,000.00 per month. The role is based on-site, providing the opportunity to work closely with clients and internal teams. Applicants will be asked about their experience in the Canadian market during the application process. This position offers a valuable chance to ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations while delivering accurate and timely financial reporting in a collaborative environment.
