About the Role

The Head of Engineering will be a pivotal leader responsible for overseeing all engineering functions within our plant, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, safety, and compliance. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong technical acumen, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record in managing complex engineering projects and teams within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on problem-solver who can drive innovation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with the plant's operational goals and overall company objectives.
Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of all engineering projects, including capital expenditure projects, plant upgrades, and new equipment installations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma) to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and optimize resource utilization.
Operations & Maintenance Management: Oversee the maintenance department, implementing robust preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure maximum uptime and reliability of machinery and equipment.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues, performing root cause analysis to implement effective long-term solutions.
Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and company standards.
Manage utilities and infrastructure within the plant, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations.
Drive a culture of excellence in maintenance engineering, overseeing the creation and deployment of innovative preventive, predictive, shutdown, and breakdown maintenance frameworks. This role is critical in ensuring peak plant performance, fostering sustainable cost reduction, and upholding the highest safety standards
Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers and technical staff.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning within the engineering department.
Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify training and development needs for the team.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with production, quality assurance, supply chain, and other departments to achieve operational excellence and resolve inter-departmental issues.
Liaise with external vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure project success and compliance.
Documentation & Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical drawings, and maintenance records.
Prepare and present regular reports on engineering performance, project progress, and key metrics to senior management.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, or a related Engineering discipline from an PEC-recognized university. A master's degree will be a plus
Experience: Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience with at least 6 years in an engineering leadership role within a large-scale manufacturing plant.
Proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams and successful project delivery.
Strong experience in plant operations, maintenance, and process improvement methodologies.
In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, plant equipment, and machinery
