Legal Specialist

About the job

We are looking for experienced legal professionals with strong expertise in APAC jurisdictions, particularly Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Malaysia, to support legal research, analysis, drafting, and advisory-related activities.

The engagement requires professionals who can demonstrate strong knowledge of local laws and regulations and are comfortable working with complex legal materials and jurisdiction-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed legal research across the relevant jurisdiction and assigned legal domain.
• Analyse statutes, regulations, case law, regulatory guidance, and other legal sources.
• Provide accurate and well-reasoned legal analysis based on jurisdiction-specific requirements.
• Draft and review legal documents, memoranda, summaries, opinions, and research outputs.
• Verify legal citations, references, provisions, and supporting authorities.
• Identify and explain relevant legal and regulatory developments.
• Support commercial, corporate, and financial regulatory research and advisory assignments.
• Ensure all deliverables are accurate, well-structured, and aligned with applicable local laws.
• Work independently while maintaining high standards of quality, confidentiality, and professional judgement.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking candidates who meet the following requirements:

• Licensed Attorneys, JD/LL.M. graduates, Senior Legal Researchers, or experienced Paralegals.
• Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in legal practice, legal research, drafting, compliance, or advisory work.
• Strong expertise in at least one of the target jurisdictions:
• Hong Kong
• Taiwan
• Malaysia
• Relevant experience in one or more of the following:
• Commercial Law
• Financial Regulation
• Corporate Law / Corporate Advisory
• Regulatory Compliance
• Strong legal reasoning and analytical skills.
• Excellent ability to conduct statutory and regulatory research.
• Strong citation verification and legal source validation skills.
• Excellent legal writing and document-drafting capabilities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies or gaps in legal documentation.
• Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
• English proficiency is required; knowledge of the relevant local language is strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current or previous experience with a recognised law firm, financial institution, corporate legal department, regulatory body, or legal research organisation.
• Experience handling cross-border legal matters or multi-jurisdictional research.
• Familiarity with financial-sector regulations and corporate governance frameworks.
• Experience producing high-quality legal research and analysis for professional or commercial use.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a mid-to-senior-level legal professional with strong jurisdiction-specific expertise, excellent research and drafting skills, and the ability to deliver accurate, well-supported legal analysis across commercial, financial regulatory, and corporate matters.
