Librarian

To manage and maintain the school library, providing students with access to books, learning resources, and information while fostering a love for reading and supporting the academic development of students in the primary section.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the library’s collection of books, digital resources, and educational materials, ensuring they are cataloged and accessible.
• Organize and conduct library orientation sessions for new students and staff to familiarize them with library procedures and resources.
• Assist students and teachers in selecting appropriate reading materials and research resources.
• Promote and organize reading programs, book clubs, storytelling sessions, and book fairs to encourage reading and literacy.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the library space, ensuring all books are properly shelved and easily accessible.
• Monitor the borrowing and return of books and other materials, keeping accurate records.
• Help students develop research skills by teaching them how to locate and use various library resources (books, e-books, websites).
• Coordinate with teachers to support the curriculum with appropriate library resources for classroom activities.
• Organize events such as author visits, book discussions, and library-themed days to promote reading culture.
• Stay updated with new educational books, resources, and technology trends related to libraries.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Educational Qualification:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field
• Experience:
• 1–2 years of experience working in a school library, especially with young learners, is preferred
• Skills & Traits:
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Passion for books, reading, and promoting literacy
• Good communication skills to interact with students, teachers, and staff
• Familiarity with library software and cataloging systems
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
