Aga Khan University, a distinguished not-for-profit institution established in 1983 and part of the Aga Khan Development Network, is seeking a Research Associate to join its Department of Oncology. The university, originally focused on health sciences, has expanded its footprint across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, the United Kingdom, and Afghanistan. The Department of Oncology delivers comprehensive cancer care through multidisciplinary teams supported by specialized infrastructure, including daycare and outpatient clinics covering Medical, Hematology, Pediatric, Radiation, and Palliative Care services. Key Responsibilities:
Assist in organizing departmental events such as conferences, workshops, courses, and symposiums. Provide support to various departmental committees and collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including Food Services, Finance, and Purchase departments. Organize National and International tumor boards and coordinate their schedules effectively. Develop and maintain strategies related to clinical, educational, fellowship, and research activities within the Department of Oncology. Prepare and edit documents for presentations, SPSS analyses, publications, and disseminate relevant information to stakeholders. Maintain continuous follow-up with support departments to ensure timely completion of tasks. Prepare budget sheets and maintain Grant Voucher Records (GVR) for grants. Represent the Department through presentations when required. Participate in research audits, maintain documentation, and contribute to quality certifications such as ISO and JCIA accreditation to align with institutional goals. Conduct literature reviews on assigned topics and review case histories of identified individuals. Assist in proposal development and manuscript writing. Perform primary data collection, conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and write up results. Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports to track ongoing activities.
Required Qualifications:
MBBS degree is essential. Candidates should have knowledge and experience related to research, with demonstrated skills in data collection and analysis. Strong academic and scientific writing abilities are required, along with proficiency in computer applications. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. An interest in pursuing a career in Pediatric Neuro-oncology and Public Health is highly desirable. The ability to independently manage correspondence and assignments without micromanagement is important. Strong organizational and process improvement skills are also required to support departmental functions efficiently.
