Senior Executive - Taxation

We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Executive - Taxation to join our Finance & Accounts team based in Karachi. The successful candidate will handle a wide range of tax-related responsibilities, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and supporting the company’s financial reporting processes. This role demands strong technical knowledge of income tax and sales tax, excellent organizational abilities, and effective collaboration with multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities

- Welcome and assist visitors, clients, and staff in a professional manner.
- Prepare and file corporate income tax returns, including all necessary schedules, in compliance with the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 and associated regulations.
- Prepare and submit sales tax returns for FBR, SRB, PRA, and KPK jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy of all schedules.
- Calculate monthly, quarterly, and annual current and deferred tax liabilities.
- Reconcile weekly Withholding Tax (WHT) payments and manage electronic filing for FBR, Gilgit, and AJK tax regimes.
- Prepare working papers and process payments related to tax on premiums for FBR and AJK authorities.
- Ensure full compliance with income tax and sales tax regulations across FBR, SRB, AJK, and Gilgit territories.
- Manage tax provisions and accruals to support financial reporting requirements.
- Liaise closely with external tax consultants and legal advisors for expert guidance.
- Prepare tax schedules and reconcile government tax payments on a monthly and quarterly basis to assist the financial reporting team.
- Provide tax-related support and advice to Admin, Accounts Payable, and Marketing departments for payment processing.
- Prepare and finalize quarterly advance tax payments under Section 147.
- Contribute to the preparation of AJK final accounts.
- Review and finalize tax payments related to dividends and bonus shares.
- Ensure collection of all advance tax deduction certificates from banks and other relevant parties.
- Review zakat payments, reconcile amounts, and accurately record payment entries in the system.
- Conduct ongoing tax research to remain updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
- Ensure timely and efficient management of all tax matters.
- Issue tax certificates to employees as required.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties assigned by management.
- Utilize IRIS (FBR portal) and provincial sales tax portals proficiently for filing and compliance.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance, or ACCA qualification.
- 2 to 3 years of supervisory experience in a tax firm, preferably within the life insurance sector.
- Strong knowledge of income tax and sales tax laws, regulations, and filing procedures.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Capability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

This is a full-time position based onsite in Karachi, offering a monthly salary range of Rs50,000 to Rs80,000. The role provides an excellent opportunity to deepen taxation expertise within a dynamic organization, working closely with various internal departments and external advisors to ensure regulatory compliance and support business operations.
