Job Summary

One of our clients is seeking experienced Transactional or Regulatory Associates to support an AI research initiative focused on evaluating advanced AI systems on real-world legal research tasks. In this role, you will develop realistic research questions that reflect challenges commonly encountered in transactional and regulatory legal practice. Your work will contribute to building high-quality benchmarks that assess how effectively AI systems interpret statutes, regulations, and legal frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft practitioner-level legal research questions arising in transactional and regulatory practice areas.
• Develop scenarios related to corporate transactions, securities regulation, administrative law, and compliance frameworks.
• Incorporate jurisdiction-specific statutory and regulatory interpretation.
• Frame research questions requiring synthesis of statutory text, agency guidance, case law, and legislative history where appropriate.
• Ensure questions mirror real client matters and practical legal challenges rather than academic hypotheticals.
• Structure research problems clearly so they can be addressed through professional legal research.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 4–7+ years of law firm experience in transactional or regulatory legal practice.
• Strong background in statutory and regulatory interpretation.
• Experience researching federal and/or state regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to clearly scope and articulate complex legal issues for research purposes.
• Strong written communication skills with structured legal reasoning.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience interacting with regulatory agencies.
• Background in highly regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, or energy.
• Experience working with legal technology, AI research initiatives, or dataset development projects.

Contract and Payment Terms

• This role is offered as an independent contractor position.
• Work can be completed remotely on your own schedule.
• Project duration may change depending on project needs and performance.
• Payments are issued weekly through Stripe or Wise based on completed services.
