Position Overview:

As a Fiber Technician/Team Lead, you will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of optical fiber networks to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of high-speed internet services to our customers. You will be responsible for handling various tasks related to fiber optic infrastructure, including installation, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced technologies and contribute to the growth and success of our ISP business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Installation and Deployment:
• Install, terminate, and splice optical fiber cables according to industry standards and specifications.
• Deploy fiber optic equipment, such as junction boxes, distribution panels, and enclosures, in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Ensure proper routing and management of fiber optic cables to maintain network integrity and reliability.
• Testing and Quality Assurance:
• Perform comprehensive testing and verification of fiber optic links using specialized equipment (e.g., OTDR, optical power meter, fusion splicer) to ensure optimal performance and adherence to performance metrics.
• Conduct thorough quality assurance checks to identify and rectify any issues related to signal loss, attenuation, or other performance degradation factors.
• Maintenance and Repair:
• Conduct routine maintenance activities, including cleaning, inspection, and preventive maintenance of fiber optic infrastructure.
• Respond promptly to service interruptions or network outages, diagnose root causes, and execute timely repairs to minimize downtime and restore service.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and fellow team members.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices governing fiber optic installations and operations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or vocational training in telecommunications, electrical engineering, or related field preferred.
• Proven experience working with optical fiber networks, including installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in using fiber optic testing equipment and tools, such as OTDRs, fusion splicers, and power meters.
• Strong understanding of fiber optic technologies, transmission principles, and industry standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, often under tight deadlines.
