The Project Finance Analyst supports the financial analysis and diligence of Novel’s solar project financings, including construction debt, permanent debt, and tax equity. This role demands a high level of autonomy, initiative, and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment where tight deadlines are common. An ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter who enjoys complexity, operates independently, and is energized by working across multiple functional areas to close complex transactions. Project-level finance expertise will be necessary to work collaboratively across the company with Novel’s in-house Project Development, Construction, Legal, and Accounting departments, as well as with Novel’s external partners.

What you'll do:

Supports Project Finance Director, Project Finance team colleagues, and Legal Department in structuring, managing, and closing debt and tax equity financings for all of Novel’s US-based community solar projects.
Supports project finance closing processes, primarily through financial modeling analysis and support of various due diligence workstreams.
Build, manage, and improve various project finance models and other model templates including, but not limited to debt modeling, tax equity structures, operating models, and portfolio models. Financial modeling work will include financial analysis of current and potential project acquisitions and financing opportunities through forecasting cash flows, tax impacts, and investor returns.
Support coordination efforts with Novel’s in-house Project Development, EPC, Legal, and Accounting departments to ensure project assumptions are current and accurate.
Support with the preparation of investment and marketing materials.
Support Project Finance team with deal due diligence, including coordination with finance providers.
Support with responding to on-going information requests and routine reporting requirements of construction debt, permanent debt, and tax equity providers.
Support the business development team with assessing the economic viability of acquisition opportunities and facilitating the structuring of acquisition proposals.
Other duties as assigned.

What you'll need:

At least 1-2 years of relevant investment banking or financial analysis experience, ideally working within the renewable energy, infrastructure, real estate, or construction industries.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a relevant degree
Project finance modeling experience and proficiency in Microsoft Excel (ability to use keyboard shortcuts and work efficiently in Excel is a critical skillset).
Technical or professional proficiency
Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
Ability to work independently, multi-task, think critically, prioritize, and meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
