About the job

Role Summary

The Generalist manages the more sensitive, judgment-driven parts of the contractor employment relationship performance management, involuntary terminations, escalations, and local law compliance across the USEMEA, APAC and Global jurisdictions where SkySys contractors are placed. This role is the internal escalation point when a contractor situation carries employment-law or reputational risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) for underperforming contractors, in coordination with client managers, account managers, and legal counsel where warranted.
  • Handle sensitive and involuntary terminations end-to-end: draft compliant documentation, advise on process and timing, and coordinate with Legal, Payroll, and the Offboarding Coordinator.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for contractor grievances, workplace concerns, and conduct issues raised by contractors or clients.
  • Ensure HR practices comply with applicable local labor law across jurisdictions including US state-specific employment law and EMEA, APAC/Global Labor regulations (notice periods, termination protections, working-time rules, etc.).
  • Partner with external/internal legal counsel on higher-risk employment matters (e.g., discrimination claims, wrongful termination exposure, unemployment contests).
  • Investigate and help resolve HR complaints (harassment, discrimination, policy violations) with appropriate confidentiality and documentation.
  • Maintain and update HR policies and procedures applicable to the contractor workforce, reflecting current regional legal requirements.
  • Advise account managers and client-facing teams on HR risk before a situation is escalated to a formal PIP or termination.
  • Maintain thorough, confidential case files for all sensitive HR matters.
  • Support unemployment claims, disciplinary processes, and workplace conflict resolution.
  • Track and report HR case trends, PIP outcomes, and termination metrics to HR leadership.
  • Coordinate with the Onboarding/Offboarding Coordinator on termination logistics and with Payroll on final pay compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of HR generalist experience, including direct involvement in performance management and terminations.
  • Working knowledge of US employment law fundamentals (at-will employment, FLSA, EEOC/anti-discrimination basics) and general familiarity with Global labor law concepts.
  • Experience in the staffing/contingent workforce industry strongly preferred.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and comfort handling confidential, emotionally sensitive situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to advise managers clearly under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent HR certification.
  • Prior experience supporting a multi-country/distributed workforce.
  • Experience partnering directly with legal counsel on employment matters.
