Textile Designer (Rugs & Carpets)

Job Description

This opportunity is ideal for a designer who values thorough research as a foundation for creative innovation. The successful candidate will produce designs that reflect a strong understanding of traditional aesthetics while meeting modern market demands. They will present a well-documented, research-based design point of view to guide collection development and ensure that all deliverables meet high standards. The role emphasizes attention to detail, knowledge of regional textile art forms, and skillful use of design technologies. The candidate must be based in Pakistan and capable of handling a contract-based, deliverable-driven project with clear milestones and expectations.
Responsibilities
 

• Conduct comprehensive research on historical and contemporary rug-weaving traditions and motifs from Turkey, Iran, and the Caucasus to inform design concepts.
• Analyze the competitive landscape, including established rug design houses and national home retailers in the US and Europe, to align collections with market expectations.
• Develop a strong, well-documented design point of view that shapes the creative direction for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 seasonal rug and carpet collections.
• Collaborate closely with the contracting company to interpret the Design Guidance document and ensure consistency with outlined goals and standards.
• Utilize CAD software and Galaincha rug design tools proficiently to create detailed and accurate textile designs.
• Prepare and submit comprehensive pitches for each collection, including past work portfolios and supporting research showcasing the design approach and market understanding.
• Manage project deliverables and timelines effectively, ensuring all designs meet the quality and depth of research requirements before submission.
• Maintain awareness of current and emerging trends in textile design and incorporate innovative ideas while respecting traditional aesthetics.
• Communicate design concepts clearly and professionally to stakeholders through presentations and documentation.
• Continuously update skills and knowledge related to textile design technologies and regional art histories relevant to rugs and carpets.
