We are seeking an exceptional, highly accomplished Expert Urdu Instructor to lead our Urdu language and literature program. In this senior role, you will go beyond basic language mechanics to cultivate advanced linguistic fluency, critical analysis of classical and modern literature.
As an expert, you will design specialized curricula, mentor junior faculty, and serve as a cultural ambassador within our institution. The ideal candidate possesses a profound mastery of the language, an extensive background in Urdu prose and poetry, and a proven track record of inspiring advanced learners.
Key Responsibilities1. Advanced Instruction & Literary Analysis
- Deliver Elite Pedagogy: Teach advanced Urdu language courses, specialized seminars, and masterclasses focusing on complex syntax, rhetoric, and idiomatic expression.
- Literature & Poetry Interpretation: Guide students through the critical analysis of classical and contemporary Urdu literature, including the works of Ghalib, Iqbal, Faiz, and prominent prose writers.
- Nuanced Translation: Instruct students in high-level translation and interpretation techniques between Urdu and English, preserving cultural and emotional contexts.
2. Curriculum Leadership & Innovation
- Design Specialized Programs: Develop cutting-edge curricula, specialized modules (e.g., Urdu for media, creative writing, or historical research), and original instructional materials.
- Incorporate Modern Methodologies: Integrate advanced digital humanities tools, language labs, and multimedia resources to enhance upper-level language acquisition.
- Mentor Faculty: Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development support to junior Urdu instructors and teaching assistants.
3. Cultural Enrichment & Institutional Impact
- Curate Cultural Events: Organize and lead high-profile cultural initiatives, such as Mushairas (poetry recitations), literary circles, dramatic readings, and guest lecture series.
- Assessment Excellence: Establish sophisticated diagnostic and proficiency assessment benchmarks to evaluate advanced linguistic and analytical competencies.
Role RequirementsEducation & Experience
- Advanced Degree: Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Urdu Literature, Linguistics, South Asian Studies, or a closely related field.
- Proven Track Record: Minimum of 7–10 years of successful teaching experience, with a significant portion dedicated to advanced learners, heritage speakers, or university-level students.
- Recognized Expertise: Demonstrated contribution to the field, which may include published literary critiques, translations, creative writing, or textbook development.
Skills & Competencies
- Linguistic Mastery: Flawless, scholarly command of written and spoken Urdu, including absolute mastery of the Nastaliq script, calligraphic principles, and phonetics.
