Senior Vice President of Marketing (SVP of Marketing)
Position Summary
The Senior Vice President of Marketing is a senior executive responsible for leading the organization's global marketing strategy, brand development, market positioning, customer acquisition, demand generation, and revenue growth initiatives. As a member of the executive leadership team, the SVP of Marketing drives business growth through strategic brand management, data-driven marketing programs, and customer engagement strategies.
This role often serves as the highest marketing leader below the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) or, in many organizations, functions as the organization's top marketing executive.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute global marketing and brand strategies
Lead customer acquisition, retention, and loyalty initiatives
Oversee digital marketing, growth marketing, content strategy, social media, advertising, public relations, and communications
Drive demand generation and pipeline growth programs
Manage brand positioning, reputation management, and market differentiation efforts
Develop go-to-market strategies for new products, services, and geographic expansion
Oversee marketing budgets, resource allocation, and ROI optimization
Analyze customer behavior, market trends, and competitive intelligence
Collaborate with sales, product, finance, and operations leadership teams
Establish marketing performance metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting frameworks
Build strategic partnerships and media relationships
Recruit, develop, and mentor marketing leadership teams
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Economics, or related field
MBA preferred
15+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience
Proven success in brand building, customer acquisition, and revenue growth
Experience managing enterprise-level marketing organizations
Expertise in digital marketing, analytics, customer engagement, and strategic planning
Strong leadership, communication, and executive presentation skills
