Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician (Construction / Material Testing) to join our team. The role involves performing routine and specialized tests on construction materials such as soil, concrete, aggregates, asphalt, and steel to ensure compliance with relevant standards and project specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of testing procedures, accuracy in reporting, and adherence to quality and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect, prepare, and test construction material samples (soil, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, steel, etc.).
• Perform standard tests such as sieve analysis, compaction tests, slump tests, compressive strength tests, and other field/lab tests.
• Ensure all testing is conducted in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, BS, or relevant local/international standards.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Record, analyze, and report test results accurately and promptly.
• Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly laboratory test reports.
• Maintain proper documentation and sample tracking records.
• Follow quality management systems (ISO/IEC 17025 or equivalent).
• Ensure laboratory cleanliness, organization, and strict adherence to health and safety regulations.
• Support site engineers and QA/QC teams by providing reliable test data for construction decision-making.

Requirements:

• Diploma / Bachelor’s / Master's degree in Civil Technology, Construction Materials, or related field.
• Proven experience of 7-10 years as a Laboratory Technician in construction materials testing.
• Knowledge of material testing standards (ASTM, AASHTO, BS, or local codes).
• Familiarity with laboratory instruments and equipment used in construction testing.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Basic computer skills for preparing reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in Construction Material Testing or related discipline.
• Experience in a QA/QC or ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
• Hands-on experience with advanced testing equipment (e.g., UTM machines, nuclear density gauge, asphalt testing apparatus).
