Job Summary:
The Legal Counsel provides expert legal guidance and support to the organization, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. They advise on various legal matters, including contracts, corporate Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law, employment law, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance. The Legal Counsel mitigates legal risks, drafts and reviews legal documents, and represents the organization in legal proceedings when necessary in any court of law and authority.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Legal Consultation:
Provide accurate and timely legal advice on business operations, policies, and compliance matters, Civil and Criminal matters.
Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations affecting the organization.
2. Contract Drafting & Review:
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents (e.g., vendor contracts, employment agreements, NDAs).
Ensure contracts comply with legal standards and company policies.
3. Corporate Governance & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with corporate laws and internal policies.
4. Risk Management:
Identify legal risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Advise on dispute resolution, litigation, and regulatory investigations.
5. Employment Law Support:
Advise HR on employment contracts, workplace policies, and labour law compliance.
Handle employee-related legal issues, including disputes and terminations.
6. Intellectual Property (IP) & Data Protection:
Protect the company’s IP rights (trademarks, copyrights, patents).
Ensure compliance with data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
7. Litigation & Dispute Resolution:
Represent or liaise with external counsel in legal proceedings.
Manage settlements, arbitration, and mediation processes.
8. Regulatory & Policy Development:
Monitor changes in laws and update internal policies accordingly.
Train staff on legal and compliance matters.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB or JD); licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Experience: 5+ years in legal advisory roles (corporate, commercial, Civil, Criminal or employment law preferred).
• Skills:
Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Knowledge of corporate, Criminal, Civil, contract, and regulatory law.
Proficiency in legal research and drafting.
• Soft Skills: Attention to detail, confidentiality, and business acumen.
Salary & Benefits:
• Monthly Salary: Rs. 60,000.
Work Environment:
• May work in-house (corporations, Company, government) or at law firms.
Reports To: Legal Head, senior management, or CEO.
This role is critical in safeguarding the organization’s legal interests while supporting strategic decision-making.
