Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and capable COO -Shipping Agency to lead and manage shipping agency operations at Port Qasim and Karachi Port, particularly for bulk vessel import and export operations. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day vessel operations, coordinating with port authorities, terminals, customs, immigration, stevedores, ship masters, owners, charterers, and all relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient vessel handling.

Candidates with prior experience as:

 Ship Captain / Master Mariner, 

 Marine Superintendent, 

 Senior Shipping Operations Manager, 

 or former officials of Karachi Port Trust or Port Qasim Authority with relevant experience will be strongly preferred. 

General Duties

The COO -Shipping Agency shall be responsible for:

 Managing all vessel agency and port operations for bulk carriers and other assigned vessels. 

 Coordinating vessel berthing, cargo operations, sailing, and port clearances. 

 Liaising with port authorities, terminal operators, customs, immigration, pilots, stevedores, and vessel masters. 

 Supervising operational staff, boarding officials , and field teams. 

 Monitoring vessel schedules, port operations, and turnaround officials . 

 Handling operational issues and ensuring smooth vessel operations at all times. 

 Overseeing husbandry services including crew changes, CTM, spare handling, bunkering coordination, and ship supplies. 

 Ensuring compliance with all local maritime regulations and company procedures. 

 Preparing operational reports, DA estimates, and management updates. 

 Maintaining strong relationships with ship owners, charterers, operators, and maritime stakeholders. 

 Supporting business development and bringing new operational opportunities to the company whenever possible. 

Candidates with strong industry contacts and relationships with ship owners and maritime principals will be considered an added advantage. Performance-based incentives/bonuses may be offered for successfully bringing new business or principals to the company. 

Preferred Experience & Skills

 Minimum 10 years of relevant shipping, marine, or port operations experience. 

 Strong experience in bulk vessel handling and shipping agency operations. 

 Prior experience at Port Qasim and Karachi Port. 

 Former ship captains or ex-port authority officials will have preference. 

 Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. 

 Ability to handle high-pressure operational situations independently. 

 Good understanding of port operations, shipping documentation, and maritime regulations in Pakistan.
