Job Description

Aisha Steel Mill Limited Karachi, Pakistan invites applications for the position of Executive, Environmental Health & Safety. This role requires a skilled professional dedicated to enforcing safety regulations and safeguarding the health and well-being of employees within the industrial environment. The candidate must demonstrate strong expertise in regulatory compliance management, occupational health and safety programs, ISO 13485 standards, hazard identification, and risk assessment. With a minimum of two years of experience in environmental health and safety and a background in environmental engineering, the individual will play a crucial role in maintaining safety protocols, conducting thorough audits and inspections, and leading initiatives to prevent workplace hazards. The executive will work independently without direct team management responsibilities but will coordinate closely with various departments and contractors to ensure compliance and safety at all times. This role requires proactive identification and assessment of potential risks and hazards within the manufacturing environment. The professional will collaborate with operational teams to implement effective control measures and maintain safety documentation. Additionally, the executive must ensure that all personnel have appropriate personal protective equipment and oversee the quality of such equipment from initial receipt to issuance. Through regular inspections, accident investigations, and targeted safety training, the role supports Aisha Steel Mill Limiteds commitment to a safe and healthy workplace in compliance with legal and company standards.
Responsibilities
 

• Ensure all necessary safety signage is clearly displayed and maintained throughout the mill premises in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
• Maintain a meticulous record of work permits issued and conduct thorough audits of contractor activities to ensure compliance with safety protocols at Aisha Steel Mill Limited.
• Conduct detailed inspections and audits of mobile cranes before and during operations to prevent mechanical failures or safety breaches.
• Investigate incidents of accidents or non-compliance to determine if safety laws have been violated, documenting findings thoroughly and updating the accident and incident log to identify trends.
• Ensure that all staff members are provided with and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including helmets, safety shoes, eye protection, ear protectors, and gloves.
• Perform quality inspections of incoming PPE and other health and safety equipment to verify they meet required quality and safety standards prior to distribution.
• Maintain a detailed log documenting the issuance of PPE to employees, and coordinate with the store department to manage inventory and custody of safety equipment effectively.
• Inspect critical safety structures and equipment such as scaffoldings, welding apparatus, excavators, and fabrications, ensuring all meet the established ASML safety standards.
• Conduct daily health, safety, and environmental inspections at site to evaluate compliance with administrative controls, reporting any deficiencies or anomalies immediately to the supervisor.
• Oversee the execution of Hazard Identification Risk Assessments (HIRA) and Environmental Aspect & Impact Assessments (EAIA) at the site by coordinating with responsible departments to mitigate risks proactively.
• Arrange and facilitate specific safety training courses aimed at increasing awareness, knowledge, and compliance among employees regarding workplace health and safety policies.
• Support ongoing improvement of occupational health and safety programs by monitoring regulatory developments and ensuring organizational practices remain current and effective.
