Soultek Pvt Ltd is seeking a dedicated Pediatric ICU Nurse to provide expert care for critically ill pediatric patients, particularly those with cardiac conditions. This role demands a highly skilled professional with proficiency in advanced life support techniques, critical care assessment, and mechanical ventilation management. The ideal candidate must possess strong clinical judgment and the ability to function efficiently in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. They will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care and will manage a team of 5 nursing professionals, ensuring quality patient outcomes and adherence to pediatric cardiac care protocols. The Pediatric ICU nurse is responsible for delivering direct care to pediatric cardiac patients throughout all surgical phases and managing complex health situations involving rapid physiological changes. Excellent communication skills are necessary to educate and support patients and families, facilitating emotional support and clear understanding during stressful times. Commitment to maintaining rigorous infection control, safety guidelines, and accurate documentation is essential. This role also involves continuous professional development and staying current with evolving pediatric cardiac care practices to provide the highest standard of nursing care.

Work Environment

Shifts: Standard office hours with flexibility for additional hours when needed.

Calls: On-call Responsibilities

for critical patient care and department emergencies.

Qualification

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a General Nursing Diploma (GN) from an accredited nursing program (PNC).
  • Additional certifications in pediatric nursing or critical care nursing can be beneficial. Some institutions may require specific training in pediatric cardiology.

     

Experience

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in pediatric nursing, with at least some of that time spent in a critical care setting, preferably within a pediatric cardiac ICU.
  • Experience or training in managing cardiothoracic surgery patients and knowledge of cardiac monitoring devices, medication administration, and critical care protocols tailored to pediatric patients is highly advantageous.

     

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients in the intensive care unit, focusing on cardiac conditions before, during, and after surgery.
  • Monitor vital signs, cardiac output, hemodynamic parameters, and other critical physiologic indicators using advanced patient monitoring systems and cardiac telemetry.
  • Administer prescribed medications, including inotropes, antiarrhythmic drugs, and other cardiac-specific treatments, adhering strictly to dosing and safety protocols.
  • Perform invasive and non-invasive procedures such as intravenous therapy, arterial blood gas sampling, and emergency airway management with precision and care.
  • Operate and manage mechanical ventilators, implementing ventilator weaning protocols tailored to pediatric patient needs.
  • Collaborate actively with physicians, cardiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.
  • Lead and supervise a nursing team of five, providing guidance, support, and ensuring compliance with pediatric critical care standards and institutional policies.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate electronic health records and medication administration records to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients families to deliver clear explanations of treatment plans, procedural preparations, and post-operative care while offering emotional support.
  • Participate actively in discharge planning and coordinate follow-up care to facilitate smooth transitions from hospital to home or other care settings.
  • Uphold strict infection control practices and safety protocols to safeguard patients, staff, and the healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, pulse oximetry, and hemodynamic monitoring to detect and respond promptly to changes in patient status.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through training sessions, workshops, and certifications in pediatric cardiac care and critical care nursing.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to assess rapidly changing patient conditions and make informed clinical decisions in emergency situations.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, quality standards, and regulatory guidelines concerning pediatric intensive care and patient safety.
  • Foster a collaborative and multidisciplinary work environment that ensures coordinated, patient-centered care across various healthcare departments.
