Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience.
  • Strong understanding of medical billing, coding, insurance claims, CPT, ICD-10, and payer guidelines.
  • Experience with claim scrubbing, denial management, payment posting, and revenue cycle processes.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing.
  • Proficiency with EHR and practice management software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits through payer portals and, when necessary, by contacting insurance companies directly.
  • Review, scrub, and validate claims to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with payer requirements prior to submission.
  • Submit clean claims in a timely manner, resolve claim rejections, and investigate, correct, and appeal denied claims to maximize reimbursement.

·       Accurately post insurance and patient payments. Be familiar with the patient statement process and assist with patient billing inquiries as needed.

  • Collaborate with the Accounts Receivable (A/R) team to follow up on unpaid, underpaid, and outstanding claims to ensure timely collections.
  • Work closely with the Charge Entry team to ensure charges are entered accurately, supported by appropriate documentation, and submitted within established timelines.
  • Monitor payer policies and billing guidelines, identify trends in denials and rejections, and recommend process improvements to increase claim acceptance and optimize reimbursement.
