Job Summary

The Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, deployment, and maintenance of battery storage systems integrated with renewable energy projects. The role includes system sizing, selection of battery technologies, integration with inverters, and coordination with electrical and civil engineering teams. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in electrical systems and energy storage technologies, combined with hands-on experience in system commissioning and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop complete BESS solutions, including electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs), control architecture, and protection schemes.
• Evaluate and select appropriate battery chemistries (e.g., Li-ion, LFP, flow batteries) based on project requirements.
• Perform system sizing and energy modeling to determine optimal capacity and configuration.
• Coordinate integration of BESS with PV plants, gensets, grid, and hybrid energy management systems.
• Review and ensure compliance with national and international standards (IEEE, IEC, NEC, etc.).
• Support in the preparation of technical specifications for procurement of BESS components (batteries, PCS, EMS, BMS, etc.).
• Conduct technical evaluations of vendor proposals and assist in vendor selection.
• Liaise with suppliers and OEMs to ensure quality, compatibility, and certification of components.
• Lead site installation supervision, testing, and commissioning of BESS projects.
• Conduct FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) procedures for battery and control systems.
• Prepare test protocols, commissioning reports, and system handover documentation.
• Ensure system is integrated with SCADA/EMS platforms for real-time monitoring and control.
• Monitor and analyze system performance post-deployment, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in coordination with OEMs and field teams.
• Develop O&M manuals, training programs, and maintenance schedules.
• Ensure all systems and procedures adhere to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Implement best practices for fire safety, thermal runaway prevention, and system protection.
• Conduct risk assessments and support safety audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Power Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in energy storage systems or power engineering.
• Experience in renewable hybrid systems (PV + BESS) preferred.
• Proven knowledge of battery technologies, inverter systems, and EMS/BMS.

Salary Range: Rs80,000.00 - Rs120,000.00 per month
