Responsibilities
The Power Plant Shift Assistant is responsible for providing technical assistance to the Shift supervisor for the smooth, effective & efficient operations of 24/7 functional Co-generation Power Plant based on Gas & Diesel fueled larger ratings Generators with heat recovery systems during the assigned shift, equipment maintenance and cleaning, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- responsible for helping seniors in carrying our effective & efficient Operation & Maintenance of Power Plant & Waste heat recovery plant equipment
- assist shift supervisors for power plant operations during the shifts
- assist plant operating staff in receiving consumables like diesel oil and lube oil
- participate in the maintenance work activities during breakdowns, emergencies, shutdowns, and when required by the supervisors. Reduce down-time of the plant and its associated equipment
- monitor plant performance, equipment conditions, and system parameters.
- perform Operational duty to assist shift supervisors, chiller operators & boiler attendants in the shift as assigned by the plant Engineer
- perform work under the approved safety standards of the Power Plant by using the appropriate safety equipment. Follow the log-out, tag-out procedures and the work permit system
- assisting in preparing an Inventory of spare parts, consumables, updating the inventory to keep a safe inventory stock of the plant equipment
- responsible for good housekeeping of the Power Plant & waste heat recovery plant
- keep plant keys, plant manual & logbooks in the safe custody
- Carry out Handing over and taking over of the Shift as per laid down Procedures
- responsible for maintaining the Power plant tools in a safe and good working condition
- carry out any other job as assigned by a superior
Requirements
- Minimum Diploma of Associate Engineer (3 years) in Mechanical/Electrical/Power Technology. B-Tech will be preferred
- Minimum 6 years of experience in power plant operations, with at least 4 years in a shift operator/ shift assistant role
- Technical Knowledge: Sound technical knowledge of larger rating Gas and Diesel Engine Generator along with its auxiliaries such as cooling towers, HT & LT water Systems, heat recovery systems
- technical knowledge of MV (11KV) electrical system, operation of VCBs & MCC
- Good communication skills
- Computer Literate
- Familiarity with power generation systems, WHR boilers, generators, and control systems
- Clear reporting of plant status and abnormalities to supervisors
- Effective communication with technical teams during shift handovers
- Maintaining accurate logs and records of daily operations
- Working effectively in a 24/7 rotating shift environment
- Accurate monitoring of plant parameters
