The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and detailed oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join the Jonas Corporate Finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and will work closely with the existing team on various aspects of the month end close (including intercompany) and consolidation process.

Responsibilities

As an important member of our Finance team, you will:

Assist with monthly closing activities within deadlines and with high attention to accuracy, including:
Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process within GP
Preparation of journal entries for month end close
Specific system related tasks in GP and BPC
Liase with Corporate transactional teams to resolve issues as required
Assist in the management of the intercompany process including the identification of inter-company differences and coordination with BU finance teams for resolution, preparation of intercompany journals (recharges etc.), invoicing and intercompany settlements.
Assist in the preparation of internal financial statements related to monthly, quarterly and annual reporting in accordance with IFRS and within internal and external deadlines
Assistance with preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and related reports on a monthly basis
Assist with preparing quarterly and annual disclosure templates and reviewing submissions from the Jonas Portfolio finance teams
Provide support and prepare the required information for ad-hoc requests from CSI head office, government surveys, internal, external & statutory audits and tax compliance
Participate in special projects that identify and drive process improvements and efficiencies, including automation of standard and ad-hoc reports and tools

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration and Professional Accounting qualification or equivalent degree in Finance, Accounting
Knowledge of multi-currency transactions
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, using excel vlookup and pivot tables in data analysis
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Familiarity with GP an asset
