Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Karāchi for an Operating Theater and Medical Technologist. The role involves preparing operating rooms before procedures, ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and supplies are available, sterilized, and functioning properly. The technologist assists surgeons and anesthesiologists during operations, maintains a sterile field, and adheres to infection control protocols at all times. Day-to-day responsibilities include setting up and operating relevant medical and monitoring equipment, handling specimens, and accurately documenting procedures and usage of materials. The role also includes checking and maintaining consumable stock, participating in equipment safety checks, and supporting post-operative room turnover to ensure smooth surgical schedules.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Operating Theater Technology, Medical Technology, or a related allied health field from a recognized institution.
• Hands-on experience in an operating theater or surgical setting, with knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and sterile techniques.
• Strong understanding of infection prevention and control, instrument sterilization, and safe handling of medical equipment and supplies.
• Ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot common operating theater and patient monitoring equipment.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to follow protocols and safety guidelines consistently.
• Capacity to work on rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duty as required by surgical schedules.
• Basic life support (BLS) or equivalent resuscitation certification; advanced life support certification is an advantage.
• Familiarity with medical documentation practices and accurate record-keeping related to procedures, equipment, and consumables.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in operating theater and medical technology.
