Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) with 5+ years of hands-on experience in managing, maintaining, securing, and optimizing PostgreSQL databases in enterprise environments.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for database availability, performance, backup and recovery, security, troubleshooting, and ensuring reliable database operations across production environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain PostgreSQL database servers.
• Manage PostgreSQL databases in production and enterprise environments.
• Monitor database performance, availability, and resource utilization.
• Perform database backup, restore, and disaster recovery operations.
• Configure and manage replication, high availability, and failover solutions.
• Troubleshoot database performance, connectivity, locking, and query-related issues.
• Perform SQL query optimization and database performance tuning.
• Manage database users, roles, permissions, and security policies.
• Monitor and optimize CPU, memory, storage, and database resources.
• Perform database upgrades, migrations, patching, and maintenance.
• Develop and maintain database monitoring and health-check procedures.
• Work closely with developers, system administrators, DevOps, and application teams.
• Maintain database documentation, operational procedures, and recovery plans.
• Ensure database security, availability, reliability, and data integrity.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience as a PostgreSQL DBA.
• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/pgSQL.
• Experience with PostgreSQL backup and recovery tools such as pg_dump, pg_restore, and PITR.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL replication and high availability.
• Experience with database performance tuning and query optimization.
• Good knowledge of indexes, transactions, locks, WAL, VACUUM, and ANALYZE.
• Experience with Linux/Unix-based operating systems.
• Knowledge of database security, roles, privileges, and authentication.
• Experience troubleshooting production database issues.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools and database health checks.
• Experience working in enterprise-scale production environments.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with PostgreSQL HA technologies such as Patroni.
• Experience with PgBouncer or other connection-pooling solutions.
• Experience with cloud databases such as AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, or Google Cloud SQL.
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
• Experience with automation using Bash or Python is an advantage.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity practices.
