Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Head of Finance to provide strong financial leadership and governance across the organization. This role will focus on strengthening financial controls, compliance, risk management, treasury, audit, and overall financial integrity. The Head of Finance will collaborate closely with senior management and key stakeholders to ensure that financial operations are well-controlled, efficient, compliant, and aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Governance & Controls: Lead the development and oversight of the organization’s financial governance framework. Enhance internal controls, policies, procedures, and approval processes to protect assets and resources. Identify control weaknesses and ensure timely corrective actions. Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and financial integrity throughout the organization.

Treasury & Cash Management: Oversee treasury functions and cash management activities. Monitor liquidity needs and maintain sound cash handling practices. Manage banking relationships, payments, receipts, and bank reconciliations while mitigating financial and liquidity risks.

Financial Planning, Budgeting & Reporting: Direct budgeting and financial reporting processes to ensure accuracy and timely submission. Provide strategic guidance on budgets, forecasts, and financial plans. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and risks. Work closely with finance teams and budget owners to enhance financial planning and accountability. Ensure compliance with organizational, statutory, contractual, and governance standards. Deliver financial insights to senior management to support informed decision-making.

Compliance, Risk & Assurance: Ensure compliance with financial, tax, regulatory, contractual, and organizational requirements. Maintain and improve financial risk management and mitigation strategies. Support the financial components of the organizational risk register. Strengthen fraud prevention, detection, and investigation efforts. Maintain comprehensive financial documentation and audit trails.

Audit & Governance: Lead statutory and external audits as the primary finance liaison. Ensure timely resolution of audit findings and recommendations. Advise senior management and governance bodies on financial risks, controls, and key issues. Support continuous improvements in governance and assurance processes.

Financial Systems & Process Improvement: Oversee the management and enhancement of financial systems and ERP platforms. Identify opportunities for automation and digital transformation. Streamline financial workflows to improve efficiency, transparency, and control. Ensure secure access to financial data and systems. Promote integration between finance systems and broader organizational operations.

Financial Oversight & Strategic Advisory: Provide independent financial advice to senior management on major decisions. Highlight significant financial risks and emerging trends. Support evaluation of financial implications for new initiatives, investments, contracts, and business activities. Oversee financial aspects of major projects, contracts, and income-generating activities. Contribute to the organization’s financial sustainability and long-term resource optimization.

Team Leadership & Capacity Building: Lead and develop the finance team by setting clear performance expectations and accountability. Foster continuous learning and professional development. Enhance financial literacy among non-finance managers. Cultivate a culture of integrity, collaboration, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

- Professional accounting qualification such as CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent.
- 8 to 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, including senior finance roles.
- Strong expertise in financial governance, internal controls, audit, compliance, treasury, and risk management.
- Experience managing finance functions in complex organizations with multiple projects or revenue streams.
- Proven skills in people management and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and financial process improvements.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Experience working with project-funded or grant-funded organizations is advantageous.
- Competitive monthly salary range of Rs1,000,000 to Rs1,200,000.
- Work location: In-person.
