Manager Research & Development (R&D) – Herbal & Nutraceuticals

Job Description

Agay Barho is seeking an experienced Manager for its Research and Development department specializing in Herbal and Nutraceutical products. This role requires a dedicated professional with a strong background in pharmaceutical sciences or related fields and extensive experience leading R&D projects in the herbal and nutraceutical sector. The ideal candidate will manage a team of 20 individuals and take full ownership of the product development process from concept through commercialization while ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards and quality protocols. This leadership role calls for expertise in formulation science, regulatory compliance, and innovative dosage form design to drive product innovation and market competitiveness. The Manager will lead research initiatives focused on plant extracts, bioactive compounds, and functional ingredients, leveraging scientific knowledge to enhance product efficacy and safety. This position involves optimizing formulation processes, conducting stability and shelf-life assessments, and overseeing the preparation of critical documentation like SOPs and technical dossiers. By fostering continuous improvement in quality and cost efficiency, the Manager will contribute to Agay Barhos reputation as a leader in herbal and nutraceutical R&D, aligning research outcomes with the companys business objectives and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
 

• Lead the end-to-end development of new herbal and nutraceutical products, overseeing all stages from concept and formulation to scale-up and commercialization.
• Conduct in-depth research on herbal extracts, bioactive compounds, functional ingredients, and related health claims to support product innovation.
• Design and develop innovative dosage forms such as capsules, tablets, powders, syrups, and functional blends tailored to customer and market needs.
• Manage formulation optimization, process enhancement, shelf-life studies, and product validation activities in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
• Establish and maintain comprehensive research and development documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical dossiers.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks governing herbal and nutraceutical products to secure market approval and sustained compliance.
• Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives focused on product efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• Lead and mentor a team of 20 R&D professionals, fostering skill development, collaboration, and high-performance culture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments including Quality Assurance, Production, and Regulatory Affairs to align development projects with organizational goals.
• Monitor and review emerging scientific trends and technological advances in herbal and nutraceutical research to keep product offerings innovative and competitive.
