Benchmark is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts & Tax Officer to join our finance team. The ideal candidate plays a pivotal role in managing financial reporting, ensuring tax compliance, and maintaining accurate accounts payable and receivable records. This role demands strong expertise in tax filing and documentation, coupled with an in-depth understanding of regulatory compliance and tax regulation adherence. You will collaborate with internal departments to ensure smooth financial operations, prepare necessary tax returns, and monitor relevant legislative changes affecting taxation. This position requires a minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in the field of taxation and accounts, with strong knowledge of national tax regulations such as FBR IRIS, Income Tax, Sales Tax, and withholding tax. The successful candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting purposes. Effective communication and analytical skills are essential to accurately interpret financial data and liaise effectively with regulatory bodies while staying updated on financial policies. This is an individual contributor role with no team management responsibilities, ideal for candidates seeking to deepen their expertise in accounts and tax compliance.
Responsibilities
 

  • Prepare and review accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable transactions ensuring timely processing and reconciliation.
  • Perform tax calculations, prepare, and file monthly and annual tax returns such as Income Tax, Sales Tax, and withholding tax ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain and update tax records and documentation to support audit processes and regulatory inspections.
  • Monitor and interpret updates in tax regulations and laws to ensure that the company stays compliant with new requirements.
  • Use Microsoft Excel and other accounting software to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and prepare reports.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external tax consultants to resolve tax-related queries and issues promptly.
  • Assist in the preparation for external and internal audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations relating to accounts and taxation.
  • Ensure strict adherence to tax compliance deadlines and statutory obligations.
  • Support the finance team in budget preparations and financial forecasting related to taxation and regulatory provisions.
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risks and propose compliant solutions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of all financial and tax information.
