Job Description

Riphah International University is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Lecturer in Psychology to deliver engaging and comprehensive undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Clinical and Professional Psychology. This role involves preparing detailed course materials, employing innovative teaching methodologies, and assessing student learning outcomes to foster a deep understanding of psychological principles and practices. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in mentoring students, guiding them through academic challenges, and supporting their professional development within a multidisciplinary educational environment. Although this position does not include team management responsibilities, collaboration with faculty and clinical partners is essential to enrich the academic experience and align clinical training with professional standards. The Lecturer will also contribute significantly to clinical training and supervision by overseeing students clinical placements, training in therapeutic techniques, and ensuring adherence to ethical standards. This position requires active engagement in research activities, including conducting independent and collaborative studies, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting findings at academic forums. The role further involves participating in curriculum development to maintain up-to-date, evidence-based course content, supporting departmental functions, and maintaining professional competence through continuous education. Candidates with 1 to 3 years of relevant teaching, clinical practice, or research experience in Clinical and Professional Psychology, preferably holding an MS/MPhil or progressing toward a PhD, will find this role suitable for enhancing their academic careers.
Responsibilities
 

  • Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Clinical and Professional Psychology using innovative teaching methods such as case-based, problem-based, and blended learning.
  • Prepare course outlines, lesson plans, lecture materials, and assessments aligned with accreditation and institutional standards.
  • Conduct lectures, tutorials, seminars, workshops, and hands-on practical sessions to facilitate student learning and engagement.
  • Assess student performance through assignments, quizzes, presentations, examinations, and practical evaluations, maintaining accurate academic records and timely grade submissions.
  • Mentor and provide academic guidance to students, addressing both educational and professional development needs.
  • Supervise clinical placements and internships, providing training in psychological interviewing, assessment, diagnosis, and psychotherapy techniques with strict adherence to ethical practices.
  • Monitor clinical competencies of students and deliver constructive feedback to enhance practical skills.
  • Coordinate clinical rotations with affiliated hospitals and mental health facilities to ensure quality training experiences.
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research, publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, and present at conferences to contribute to scholarly knowledge.
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and theses while applying for research funding and participating in grant initiatives.
  • Participate in curriculum design, review, and revision, integrating current evidence-based practices and regulatory requirements to keep course content relevant and comprehensive.
  • Develop teaching manuals and practical training materials to support effective learning and instructional delivery.
  • Provide academic advising and career counseling to support student success and professional growth.
  • Support students facing academic or professional challenges and encourage their participation in research and extracurricular professional activities.
  • Promote ethical conduct, professionalism, and academic integrity among students in all educational and clinical activities.
  • Engage in departmental meetings, academic committees, and quality assurance processes including accreditation, audits, and institutional evaluations.
  • Assist with admissions, examinations, and student selection processes to maintain high academic standards.
  • Contribute to community outreach and mental health awareness programs, enhancing the university's engagement beyond academia.
  • Maintain professional competence through continuing education, faculty development programs, and staying updated with latest developments in Clinical Psychology and psychotherapy.
  • Adhere to institutional policies and guidelines while fostering a culture of responsibility, accountability, and academic excellence throughout all professional activities.
