The Legal Aid Society (LAS), a non-profit organization committed to empowering vulnerable and marginalized communities—particularly women and girls—through access to justice, is seeking a Gender Sensitization Consultant for a short-term consultancy based in Karachi, Pakistan. This role supports LAS’s partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) under the Awaaz II Program, which focuses on enhancing the Criminal Justice System’s response to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in Pakistan. A significant component of this initiative addresses child marriage and aims to improve marriage registration practices in Sindh by providing technical assistance, strengthening institutions, and advocating for legislative reforms. The consultant will be responsible for delivering gender-sensitive training as part of a Training of Trainers (ToT) program targeting local government officials, civil society representatives, and other stakeholders. The training session will cover gender, religious, and social sensitization to raise awareness about the impact of gender norms, patriarchy, and harmful cultural practices on women’s rights and child marriage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive training materials and an agenda for a one-day gender sensitization session.
- Design a detailed training plan that includes session outlines, interactive activities, and supporting resources.
- Prepare pre- and post-training assessment tools to measure participant learning and engagement.
- Facilitate the one-day gender sensitization training for master trainers, emphasizing the influence of gender norms and cultural practices on women’s rights in Sindh.
- Compile and submit a thorough training report that analyzes participant feedback and evaluates the overall effectiveness of the session.
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Law, or related fields.
- At least seven years of professional experience working on gender issues, child protection, or justice sector reforms.
- In-depth understanding of gender norms, cultural practices, and their effects on women’s rights, particularly within the Sindh region.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver participatory, adult-learning-focused training sessions effectively.
Additional Information:
The consultancy is structured over three days: one day for preparation (submission deadline: 8th October 2025), one day for delivering the training (scheduled for 13th October 2025), and one day for submitting the final report (due by 27th October 2025). LAS enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy against sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA). All individuals engaged in LAS activities must comply with this policy, which prohibits any form of sexual exploitation, abuse, or inappropriate relationships with beneficiaries.
Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a two-page consultant profile, cover letter, updated CV, a technical proposal addressing all deliverables, a financial proposal inclusive of all applicable taxes, and a No Objection Certificate if currently employed elsewhere. The application deadline is 8th October 2025.
This consultancy offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to advancing gender justice and child protection reforms in Sindh through capacity building and advocacy within a respected organization dedicated to social equity and legal empowerment.
