The GBV Caseworker role is designed to provide direct support to vulnerable women, girls, and survivors of gender-based violence. This position focuses on delivering comprehensive case management and psychosocial support services that prioritize survivor dignity and individual needs. The role requires close collaboration with supervisors and other service providers to ensure survivors receive holistic care and protection. The position is based in Karachi and is contractual, requiring at least two years of relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
Service Provision:
Deliver survivor-centered, age-appropriate GBV case management services in line with Inter-Agency GBV Case Management Guidelines. This includes assessing survivors’ needs, offering basic counseling, and supporting the creation and execution of care and safety plans. Assist survivors in accessing additional services through referrals, accompaniment, coordination, and follow-up. Distribute emergency cash and material assistance based on needs assessments and established protocols. Actively participate in case review meetings and coaching sessions to enhance service quality.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Collect client feedback to inform service adjustments. Support post-distribution monitoring activities. Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of case files and service delivery, ensuring strict adherence to data protection protocols to safeguard survivor privacy and safety.
Coordination, Advocacy, and Representation:
Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, humanitarian partners, and service providers. Coordinate with sectors such as mental health and psychosocial support, child protection, and health to strengthen service integration and referral pathways. Organize case management meetings with relevant stakeholders as needed. Represent program goals and uphold GBV standards in all interactions.
Security and Conduct:
Adhere to all security protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Foster a respectful, non-discriminatory, and supportive atmosphere among GBV staff and partners. Uphold core GBV programming principles, including respect, nonviolence, responsible use of power, and gender equality. Strictly follow the organization’s Code of Conduct and Ethics, including policies on anti-harassment, safeguarding, and protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA). Perform additional duties as assigned, consistent with the role.
Required Qualifications
A degree in a related field is typically required, though equivalent education combined with relevant experience may be considered. Candidates should have a minimum of two years’ experience supporting women, preferably with an academic background in social work or related disciplines. A strong commitment to GBV core principles, including survivor-centered approaches and gender equality, is essential. Excellent interpersonal, advocacy, listening, and communication skills are required. Familiarity with government and NGO service providers is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate sound judgment, flexibility, and the ability to apply experience to evolving challenges. Proficiency in Pashto and Dari languages is mandatory.
Code of Conduct and Safeguarding
This role requires promoting a culture of compliance and ethics, in line with International Medical Corps’ standards. Staff must prevent and report violations related to conflicts of interest, fraud, corruption, harassment, or safeguarding breaches. Safeguarding responsibilities include protecting vulnerable populations from exploitation, abuse, neglect, and trafficking. Ethical behavior and accountability within teams are critical components of this position.
